Water Intake Is A Key Component To Good Health

Adequate water intake is essential to a healthy body. Because water is involved in every function of our bodies, it is a major component to good health. It serves as the medium that transports all nutrients in the body, which is composed of 65% to 75% water. Our bodies need water to remove waste products and process toxins efficiently. If the body retains waste products and metabolites, normal metabolic function becomes disrupted . This results in dehydration, which impairs the health of our kidney and cardiac systems.
Today the quality of our water is a significant issue in the United States. Recognizing this, President Clinton in his State of the Union Address in 1998 called for a Clean Water Initiative. At least 50 million Americans are drinking water contaminated with lead, herbicides, pesticides, feces and other contaminants. In view of this, bottled water is recommended. Experts strongly suggest drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of good quality water daily.
