Keeping a Body Measurement Log

By The Guru

It’s a good idea to get your body measurements before starting any exercise program. Having your measurements provides you with a starting point and is a great way to track your progress. Be sure to take your measurements every 4 to 8 weeks. Body measurement logs are great for when the scale seems to be stuck. Often times, our measurements will change even when the scale does not.

Keeping a body measurements log is easy and you can get started now by printing out a copy of 247body.com’s Body Measurement Log. Use a felt or plastic tape measurer and record your measurements in your body measurement log. Measure around the largest part of the muscle and record what side you measured (right or left). We are not totally symmetrical and measuring different sides will more than likely give you different measurements. When it comes to the waist, measure the circumference of your waist starting at your belly button. Some people like to measure their hips. It is important to measure around the largest part of your buttocks when measuring the hips.

Lastly, try not measuring your body every week. It takes time for the body to change. Taking measurements to often can deter some people from sticking to their program so stick with taking your measurements every 4 to 8 weeks…
